   National Slaughter Cattle Summary - Week Ending Aug 11, 2017

   Slaughter cattle on a live basis sold 2.00-3.00 lower both live and on a dressed basis.  Boxed Beef prices as of Friday afternoon averaged 197.86 down 2.60 from last Friday.  The Choice/Select spread is 3.48.  Slaughter cattle on a national basis for negotiated cash trades through Friday afternoon totaled about 73,890 head.  Last week's total head count was 52,360 head.

   Midwest Direct Markets: 
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers:  114.00-115.00.
Dressed Basis:  Steers and Heifers 184.00-186.00.

   South Plains Direct Markets: 
Live Basis: Steers and Heifers   113.00-115.00.

   Slaughter Cows and Bulls (Average Yielding Prices): 
Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly steady to 2.00 higher where noted.    
   Cutter Cow Carcass Cut-Out Value Friday was 181.69u up 0.97 from 
last Friday.
